The subject before the readers of these pages is one which is commonly overlooked by God's people. Yet we are definitely told by the Lord this word: "A salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. . . Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls" (1 Peter 1.5,9). As the end draws nearer and nearer, it is incumbent upon Christians to know what the salvation of the soul is.
In Part I of this volume of the author's, Watchman Nee presents to us the meaning, the means, and the manifestation of the soul's salvation: the meaning is self-denial, the means is the cross, and the manifestation is the kingdom. And in Part II he approaches the same subject still further but from a different perspective by showing the sphere of the believer's salvation, the secret of a victorious life, and the faith by which such life is lived.
This book is offered as a companion volume to another work of Mr. Nee's, The Latent Power of the Soul, and serves as an answer to the problem discussed in that work of the inordinate power hidden deep within man's soul. Because this latest volume reveals to us God's positive way with our soul, it is hoped that the reader may gain from its pages a greater appreciation for the dimensions of God's salvation so graciously given to man.

The whole book will bring you to a greater depth of knowledge than you have dreamed of, but I want to talk about the last chapter. It says it is a talk to young Christians, but I got saved over 40 years ago!
This chapter ministered to me in ways I never dreamed possible. I have been told I am double-minded, just refuse to be joyful, have sin in my life, can't be saved, etc... all due to my up-and-down Christian walk. Finally God was able to bring me a book that showed me the cause of my struggle, and how God wants to work in my life to bring about His will. If you have an up-and-down spiritual walk, read this book, especially this chapter to learn the truth about what is going on in your life.

5 of 5 The Salvation of the Soul December 29, 2015
Reviewer: Curtis from Raymond, IL United States
This book is yet another classic and must read for every believer. Most Christians are unaware of the "message" of the salvation of the soul. I was fortunate enough to have been exposed to this teaching a few years before discovering this book from Watchman Nee.  Mr. Nee, in this teaching, more than confirmed the truths of what I had read and learned in the teachings of others. The New Testament is full of scripture that teach this powerful truth, but most are unaware of them, because this is not taught in most seminaries.  Usually when a believer hears of the teaching of the SotS they will assume it is false, because they had never heard it before and also because they fail to search through the scriptures for themselves.  W. Nee has a definite gift of presenting the material and explaining the scriptural basis for this teaching of soul salvation. He also helps the reader grasp the difference between the soul and spirit.

In our assembly, we are using Watchman Nee's
phrase; "God offers the sinner a choice between heaven or hell". If the sinner chooses heaven, at some point after, "Jesus offers the believer a choice between the world or the kingdom" often. This volume reminds me that the cost is small compared to the reward!

Watchman Nee develops the idea that the works of the soul are essentially valueless to God; and that the soul itself must be "put to death" so that the direction of the Holy Spirit within man's innermost being can be perceived and followed.  In very simple terms, Watchman Nee describes this process of self denial as well as the struggle that devout Christians undergo as they strive to bring the soul's natural desires under the discipline of the cross.  He explains many difficult passages of the New Testament and presents the idea that, in addition to salvation, man must also win the right to rule with Christ when He returns to establish His millennial kingdom upon the Earth.  As a general introduction to what many authors are now calling "Kingdom exclusion theology" I can think of no better book than this.
